Claude Townsend will share his vast knowledge of the Flora of the Big Bend Country with us at this meeting. Claude is past owner of C&E Cactus & Things Nursery and Past President of the San Antonio Cactus & Xerophyte Society who continues to raise and propagate Cactus and other xerophytic  plants for his own landscape. He is a retired USA Medical Specialist who grew up in the North Carolina mountains on a small family farm.  Claude started digging orchids at age 12 with his grandfather for 10 cents a plant and about $2 a day.

Big Bend Country is a region of extremes that yields Agave, Sotol, Nolina, Oaks, Mesquite, Mexican Pinyon, Juniper, Yuccas, and Prickly Pear, and wonderful Wildflowers.

Come and learn all about Big Bend Blooms during this evening with Claude! He will take us on a virtual trip to West Texas, to a ranch near Sonora and to his home landscape. Learn how to use desert plants in your landscape while saving water. Plan to ask your questions any time throughout his program.
