For Rodeo Shuttle Riders:  Drivers will not be answering their telephones while driving the van in accordance with the San Antonio ordinance forbidding such practice. The driver will return your call as soon as they park. Also, if you are awaiting the van, please do not move your location.  Please use the drop-off point by the Coors Tent and stay in that location. If you move around, the drivers cannot find you in a 500 car parking lot.

BCMGs, take a few minutes to RECORD your Volunteer and CEU Hours on VMS as you earn them!  With so many MGs working Rodeo and volunteering for other events, now is the time to get those hours recorded!  Don’t wait until December!

If you haven’t done so yet, visit the Annual Membership Dues page  for details on payment methods, etc. Membership dues must be paid not later than March 1, 2018. BCMGs can pick up their membership cards at our monthly meetings, or at the office, or you can email the Office Manager to arrange sending your card to you.

Please support your BCMG association by completing the Birdies for Charity pledge form! Make your check payable to “Birdies for Charity” and send in your pledge form. Or, make your donation online. SIGN-UP for VOLUNTEER EVENTS using the Event Calendar in the VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM – VMS. Find number of volunteers still needed, who has signed up, Project Code and even request an event reminder!

Thu, Feb 22 through Mon, Feb 26: need your help at the SA H&G Show to build, staff and tear down the BCMG booth. Shift details and sign-up on VMS.

Still Need Lots of Help! Tue, Feb 27 & Wed, Feb 28: Insect EXPO at McKenna Children’s Museum in New Braunfels. Need 88 volunteers per day for 8:30am-1:30pm.  Training session is tomorrow (Feb 22) at the Comal County AgriLife Office 9:30-11:30am or 1-3pm.  Sign up only if you can attend the training! Sat, Mar 3, 7:30am-3pm: Cultivate! educational seminar at the University of Incarnate Word. Need a few more volunteers on VMS.

NEW! Dr Calvin Finch needs help Sun, Mar 4 from MGs who are knowledgeable of landscape principles (possibly Texas Superstar or Irrigation Efficiency MG Specialists) to provide landscape counseling during a Landscape School being held at the Floresville Event Center. NEW! The Bexar County Master Gardener organization is a member of the San Antonio Garden Center (3310 N. New Braunfels, 78209) and we have two opportunities in March to participate in their activities. Sign up on VMS!
1.  BCMG will serve as one of the Hospitality Hosts for their meeting on Wed, Mar 7, with Social at 9:30am and meeting/program at 10am. Six volunteers are needed (VMS Code 650). Recommended contributions include: fruit tray, vegetable tray, cheese tray, small sandwiches, and desserts. If you attend the presentation on Flower Arranging with Cut Flowers (see Calendar for details), you can record 1 CEU (VMS Code 002). Email Barbara Lutz or call: 210-699-0663 for information.
2.  Support the annual SAGC Plant Sale set-up and sale dates (VMS Code  650). Email Barbara Lutz or call: 210-699-0663.
– Wed, Mar 14, 9am-Noon: 4 volunteers for Plant Sale Room Set-up
– Thu, Mar 15, 9am-2pm: 4 volunteers for Plant Delivery, Pricing and Set-up
– Fri/Sat, Mar 16 &17, 8:30am-12:30pm and 12:30pm – 4:30: 4 volunteers each shift; lunch provided.

Mon, Mar 19, 10am-Noon: 4 to 6 volunteers help design & build tabletop, Earthkind topic displays for “Cultivating Communities” landscape fairs at 3355 Cherry Ridge. Email Anna Vogler for more information.

Wed, Mar 14, 8am-1pm: Fourth Annual Nutrition Summit at San Antonio Food Bank; need 2 or 3 MGs on VMS.  Email Anna Vogler for more information.

Just Announced:  Certified Master Gardners are invited to refresh your Plant Propagation knowledge and learn new techniques on Thu, Mar 29, from 9am-Noon at 3355 Cherry Ridge, 78230.  Fee: $25; 3 CEUs. BCMG CEU Code: 001. Note: NO Specialist Courses are scheduled to be held in San Antonio in 2018!
