The Texas Bumble Bee will be presented by Dr Jessica Beckham at our July 19th Meeting, from 6 – 8 pm, at 3355 Cherry Ridge, Suite 208, 78230.  Texas is home to about a dozen bumble bee species, including a few whose populations are considered to be declining. Learn about bumble bee natural history, identification of common Texas species, and ways that individuals can help conserve these vital pollinators.

Next Board of Directors Meeting
The monthly meeting of the BCMG Board of Directors will take place 3-5pm on Thu, July 19, at 3355 Cherry Ridge 78230. If you are interested in placing items on the agenda, email President Grace Emery by Fri, Jul 13.  And, all members are welcome to observe the meetings; however, in order to accommodate seating, please email President Grace Emery  that you will be attending.

Newest Texas Superstar Plant Release for 2018: Basket of Fire Pepper, combines ornamental and edible variety characteristics! Peterson Brothers Nursery has been selling plants for the last few weeks and should be available at your favorite Independent Nursery.

SIGN-UP for VOLUNTEER EVENTS using the Event Calendar in the VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT SYSTEM – VMS.  Find number of volunteers still needed, who has signed up, Project Code and even request an event reminder!

Junior Master Gardener Adult Leader Summer Training:   Earn CEUs in training designed for teachers, educators, and volunteers in support of youth gardening during this session which will be held Wed-Fri, Jul 25-27. (check out the Agenda!). Educators will learn about “hands-on” group and individual learning experiences that will provide an appreciation for the environment and cultivate the minds of children.  Email Ruby Zavala if you need more information.

Backyard Basics Expo will feature educational sessions on backyard chickens, making jerky, cuts of beef, growing fruit trees, drip irrigation, vegetable gardening, beekeeping and pollinators, and making salsa!
