ANNOUNCEMENTS

SPECIAL MESSAGES FROM BCMG PRESIDENT, GRACE EMERY!

TO ALL CULINARY DOCENTS:
If have not yet volunteered this summer, please pick a date, or dates, and sign up on VMS today.  There are morning and evening shifts available. We have many empty slots!  Please come and use your training, and at the same time strengthen our partnership with the San Antonio Botanical Garden.  And, have some FUN, too!!

CALLING ALL BCMGs:
We also need MGs for two Entomology Camp sessions this month and the JMG Adult Leader Training Supply Prep sessions thru this Friday.  See details in the “Volunteer section” below.
Plus, see the “call out boxes” below for summer volunteering at the CVG @ SABOT, for the Rodeo Chair/Co-Chairs and for a Partner to manage MailChimp and edit the Leaflet!
And, don’t forget the July BCMG meeting with guest speaker, Joseph Johnson, tomorrow night, 6-8pm. Bring a box or bag to take home some plants: Mystic Spires Salvia, Pink Pentas, or Violets each at $3, and Sweet Basil at $2. All plants in 4.5″ pots. Plant Sale proceeds support our Scholarship Fund!
Email Grace Emery or  VP Lynn Cox if you have any questions.

JUST ANNOUNCED:  The 2019 Fall Children’s Vegetable Garden Orientation will  be held at the San Antonio Botanical Garden on Sat, Aug 17 @ 10:45am. If you have a passion for gardening and wish to help educate youth, this orientation is for you!

BCMG BOARD MEETING will take place 3–5 pm on Thu, Jul 18 at 3355 Cherry Ridge 78230. All members are welcome to observe the meetings; however, in order to accommodate seating, please email President Grace Emery that you will be attending.

Overall Chair/Co-Chairs for the 2020 Rodeo Needed

This position reports to Ruby Zavala & David Rodriguez and involves periodic updates to the BCMG Board of Directors. The time commitment is August 2019-January 2020 for monthly meetings with San Antonio Livestock Exposition, Inc. (S.A.L.E.) at their location on AT&T Center Parkway, and meetings, as needed, with Ruby and David. By the February 2020 Rodeo, we should have a well-oiled machine.
Direct all phases of the Rodeo from preplanning which starts in August to final post-Rodeo meeting at SALE in March.
Coordinate existing committee chairs for Volunteer Coordination, Construction, Hospitality, Landscape Design, Plant Sales, Transportation, School Tours, Tree Give-Away, Watering, and Kids Activities.
This may seem formidable, but the existing chairs are experienced and excellent!  We need a Chair/Co-Chairs to provide direction and coordination for this major and long event in a most efficient way.
Please email President Grace Emery (or call:  210-875-6919) if you are interested in volunteering as Rodeo Chair or Co-Chair.

Looking for a “Partner”

This might be a perfect fit! Indoor job, your timetable, but need basic computer skills and good internet service.
Help organize and co-edit Weekly Leaflet & manage MailChimp (our email service). Happy to provide One-on-One training and mentoring. Detailed guide for the current Leaflet process available on BCMG website: Members navigation tab >  File Cabinet  >  Misc. Documents. Facilitate communications within our organization and bring fresh ideas to the Leaflet!
If you would like more information, or to volunteer, email VP Lynn Cox or Manager/Editor Ann Marie Pease.
