Volume 31, Issue #12 – December 2021

BCMG President

Where has this year gone? I felt like 2020 would never end and now I can’t believe how fast 2021 has gone.
Two years ago, the Bexar County Master Gardener membership elected me as their President. My term started out normally: our part of the 2020 Rodeo was a big success, the Children’s Vegetable Programs were underway, our CULTIVATE! Educational Event was scheduled for March, and we had a full calendar of festivals and speaking engagements coming up. And then things changed, and the Bexar County Master Gardeners changed with it. We focused on answering questions and providing gardening education via phone, email, a new Facebook page, and a new focus for our Scion. We learned to use YouTube and online tools to both improve our own education and to provide online learning opportunities for our community.
As we moved into 2021, we have finally been able to resume many of our educational activities: the Children’s Vegetable Garden Programs, the Culinary Garden Docent Program (with the addition of the CHEF program), Speaker’s Bureau presentations (both in-person and online), as well as many other services.
It has been my honor to serve the Bexar County Master Gardeners and the Bexar County gardening community these past two years.
The Bexar County Master Gardeners 2022 Board of Directors has been elected and will serve the organization and the community well!
May everyone enjoy the coming holidays!
Lynn
