Ariocarpus fissuratus: Reintroduction Project – NPSOT San Antonio Chapter Online Mtg.

This presentation will address the circumstances of the removal of 3,500 Ariocarpus fissuratus (Living Rock Cactus) from the Big Bend area by poachers and the fate of those plants since their removal and capture in 2015. The presentation will describe basics about A. fissuratus as well as describe the effort of one rancher to reintroduce these plants back into habitat. The presentation will also highlight the status of all 3,500 plants since the removal from their native habitat in 2015.
