Heather began her career in the green industry with Color Spot Nurseries in 2009 and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Palo Alto College with a degree in Landscape and Horticulture Science in 2012. She completed her internship at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. Heather holds a certification as a TCNP #5536, has been a member of the TNLA Parks & Patio Task Force committee since 2012, serves on the 2019-2020 TNLA State Certification Committee and is on the TNLA San Antonio Expo Focus Group.

Restorative Landscapes to Create a Water Sponge-Carbon Sink City
Deborah (Debbie) Reid: Technical Director Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance
Debbie has a BS in Soil & Crop Management and a MS in Horticulture, both from Texas A&M University. She has worked in these areas for over 40 years with a natural resource management focus for the last 20 years. Debbie was the first Nature Preserve Coordinator for Parks and Recreation where she coordinated efforts to create the Master Naturalist volunteer program and the first City Arborist for Development Services. Subsequently, she joined the Peace Corps to volunteer in Mexico and Guatemala, again sharing her skills on soil conservation, water quality, biodiversity and carbon sequestration. Debbie currently works for the Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance as the Technical Director to assist communities in developing storm water management policies and improved landscape maintenance practices using nature-based strategies. Currently she is working with the City of San Antonio and federal, community and neighborhood partners to apply these practices on public green spaces to be used as a mitigation tool to assist San Antonio to meet its air and water quality goals while reducing storm water runoff.
