Induced Resistance: Activating a Tree’s Natural Defense Against Disease – Distance Learning

November 9 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Fungi and bacteria are often associated with disease and the problems they cause to our trees, landscapes, and gardens.  In this workshop, certified arborist David Vaughan will introduce us to the concept of Induced Resistance (also called Systemically Induced Resistance and Systemically Acquired Resistance), which involves the application of microorganisms or naturally occurring chemicals to activate the plants’ own immunological defense mechanisms to defeat disease, grazing herbivores, insects, and/or mites.  David will discuss specific treatment regimens for local tree diseases including Oak Wilt, Hypoxylon Canker, Crowngall, and Bacterial Leaf Scorch.

Instructor:  David M. Vaughan, ISA Certified Arborist, Arborbaughan Consult, LLC.

Fee: $10 deposit, refundable upon completion of the post-workshop survey
Registration closes 24 hours prior to the class; shortly after closing you will be sent a weblink and instructions.  If you do not receive the email contact conservationcoordinator@sabot.org.
