Intriguing Plants of the Chihuahuan Desert in Texas – Distance Learning

September 22, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

A computer and internet connection are required for this San Antonio Botanical Garden workshop.

The soils and climate of the Chihuahuan Desert in West Texas provide distinctive and diverse environments for plants and have led to the evolution of particularly drought tolerant species.  From the western margins of the Edward’s Plateau to the gypsum basins of the Trans Pecos, very different conditions lead to a great diversity of flora.

In this workshop conservation botanist Michael Eason will discuss some of the most interesting species that occur in the landscapes of this part of Texas.  Michael will cover the different ecoregions of this area and then focus on the pollination biology, seed dispersal, ethnobotany, and wildscape value of its most intriguing plants.

Instructor:  Michael Eason, Director of Plant Conservation & Research, San Antonio Botanical Garden

Fee:  $10 deposit, refundable upon completion of the post-workshop survey
