The Native Landscape Certification Program (NLCP) is a series of day-long classes that teaches best practices for native plant landscaping – including wildlife habitat gardening. Each class consists of an indoor training session and an outdoor plant walk. Participants will see common invasive plants in natural areas. In each level 45 native Texas plants recommended for your landscape and 5 invasive plants to avoid will be presented.
Level 3 – Installation and Maintenance of Native Landscapes
Visualize the differences between native and non-native landscapes / Understand how to install native plants into a landscape, including: plant choice, purchase, placement, spacing; bed and soil preparation; how to plant trees, shrubs, perennials, grasses, and seeds; what soils to use; mulching techniques / Identify maintenance requirements, techniques, and maintenance schedules for native trees, shrubs, palms, yuccas, perennials, grasses, and ground covers. (Prerequisite: NLCP Level 1)
Fee: $50, Native Plant Society of Texas (NPSOT) members; $65, nonmembers.
