Native Plants and Pollinators / Planting for Independence with Edible Native Plants — GVST Gardening Essentials Classes

GVST Gardening Essentials Classes are free and open to the public, although a $5 donation is appreciated.  No pre-registration is required.  Tool sharpening is also available ($3 donation appreciated).

Session 1:
Topic:  Native Plants and Pollinators  (1 BCMG CEU.  Code 001.)
Speaker:  Donald W. Tuff, PhD, Comal County Master Gardener
Don retired in 1998 as Professor of Biology from the Department of Biology at Texas State University where he taught full time since 1963.  Recently Don has become interested in our native bees, the flowers they pollinate, and the threats to their survival.

Session 2:
Topic:  Planting for Independence with Edible Native Plants
Speaker:  Rachel Cywinski, GVST and Native Plant Society
Whether you are going green, saving water, getting older, or wanting to live off the grid, growing edible plants that are native to the area can provide you independence.  This presentation will show you the benefits of having edible native plants in your landscape and how they contribute to human health as well as the support of native wildlife.
