Author a Scion Article: Any Gardening Topic!

Don’t forget that you can get volunteer hours for writing articles for the Scion.  There is an ongoing need for articles on almost any gardening topic: garden plants, vegetables, fruits, house plants, pollinators, or even composting, drip irrigation, starting seeds, garden tools, etc. But other articles are welcome too!

If you are interested please pick a topic, then email the Scion Editor with your proposed topic to prevent duplication. The article should be 1-2 pages (which includes space for pictures – so it is really like writing a 1-page article).  We will be glad to edit, add pictures and do the layout as needed. These articles will be used to add more educational content to our Scion.

Guidelines for Scion articles are:

1. Articles must give the reader knowledge about gardening, in some way.

2. Articles should be 1-2 pages long, preferably in Microsoft Word format (but never in pdf format).
3. All photos must be credited. If you use a photo from the internet, we must list the website the photo came from.

4. Deadline for articles is the 28th of each month, for the next month Scion. If I receive it after the 28th, I will publish it in the following month Scion.

5. All articles will be proofread by 2 people for grammar, spelling and punctuation errors.

6. You receive volunteer hours for writing articles. When you enter your hours in VMS, use Project code 700 and enter “SCION” on the description line.
