Helpful Resources
Ask a Master Gardener
Question: Can Hazelnut trees grow in Bexar County?
Answer: No. For three reasons: 1) Inability to survive the harsher winters in Bexar County (causes tree damage and flower damage); 2) Poor tolerance to very hot summers in Bexar County; and 3) A fungal disease that attacks the trees during the hot summer months. The disease is called Eastern Filbert Blight.
