A Pioneer Thanksgiving – A Savory Taste of Texas

November 10, 2018 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Join herbalist Leslie Bingham and learn how to celebrate a Texan pioneer Thanksgiving with foods that would have been available in San Antonio during the period 1780 to 1880.  Leslie will discuss the types of foods and present a sample menu including main dish, sides, and desserts, with a focus on the historical herbs used in these recipes.  She will also talk about the kitchen facilities available for cooking and preserving foods in the past.  Participants will tour the garden learning about the herbal and culinary properties of Texas native plants, receive a plant, enjoy a tasting, and receive a recipe booklet.

Fee: $25 (members $22.50).  Register here.
